The Honourable Will Galbraith and Ed Legge comparing notes

In conjunction with Lothian Estates I am able to offer some excellent rough shooting in the Scottish Borders this coming season 2009/2010.

The shoot is situated 3 miles east of Jedburgh and covers approximately 1,000 acres of fabulous Borders countryside and can produce the most dramatic sport. The principles of the shoot are based on lots of exercise, good company and the challenge of wild pheasants and woodcock.

There are around 6 days availbale for the coming season for up to 6 guns. The daily tariff for a gun is £90, which includes a picnic lunch and beaters wages. The average bag is up to 20 pheasants, woodcock and pigeons.

The shooting on offer is quite the opposite of modern day large bag shooting and yet offers a unique experience in glorious unspoilt surroundings, which is likely to be quite memorable.

Friends and family who would like a day out are very welcome, the more the merrier, especially with working type dogs, although any dogs are welcome. As the shoot host, I do not carry a gun and therefore will look after and guide additional beaters.

Accomodation can be arranged in the Borders and there is the possibility to shoot 2 consecutive days should this be desired. The Dryburgh Abbey Hotel offer excellent weekday deals throughout the months of November, December and January.
